More and more automakers are starting to go green. Electric vehicles like Tesla and hybrids, like the Toyota Prius, have made a real change in the way people get around. Today, traditional luxury automakers are starting to make inroads in the world of electric cars, too. They understand only too well that consumers want more carbon-neutral options for transportation. The BMW iX3 is an excellent example of this. The 2020 model has an improved range of up to 273 miles.

The BMW iX3 has been one of the most anticipated cars in the world for the past couple of years. When the concept was released in 2018, the auto world sat up and took notice. It promises to be a great addition to BMW’s line of so-called sport activity vehicles. The iX3 promises to make it easier for people to do more and go farther while still being environmentally friendly. Featuring a model-specific battery, this SUV is the first in BMW’s roster of next-generation, fully electric automobiles. In addition to improved range over previous electrics, the BMW iX3 is also a very high-performance car. The engine generates up to 286 horsepower and up to 295 pound-feet of torque. This is a vehicle that can take on plenty of challenges.

The iX3 is based closely on the X3, which is powered by a traditional internal combustion engine. The X3 is known for its sleek, sporty profile. It seats five adults comfortably. This vehicle can also be used to haul plenty of gear. The second row of seats can be folded down easily for additional storage room. All told, the X3 has up to 62.7 cubic feet of storage space. It’s available in nine great-looking standard colors and features BMW’s signature statement grille.

The gasoline-powered BMW X3 will still be produced. The electric iX3 will be produced in China. It’s expected that some third-party agencies will rate the iX3 at a lower mileage per charge than the automaker itself. Estimates for the EPA rating are expected to be in the range of 220 miles per charge. This vehicle is expected to be manufactured starting in 2020. While BMW has canceled plans to launch the vehicle in the USA, the BMW iX3 is expected to be available on the market starting in early 2021.
